Roger L. Hamrick, age 60, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 8:20 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Hamrick was a 1973 graduate of Stryker High School and was employed by the Bryan City Water Department, retiring with twenty-three years of service. Roger was a devoted public servant, serving as an EMT with Medic 2 of the Williams County EMS for twenty-three years and as its Chief for many years as well as a firefighter with the Bryan Fire Department for nine years. He was an avid motorcyclist riding with the Continental Motorcycle club and served as president of the Northwest Ohio Motorcycle Association. He was also a member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, where he enjoyed playing cards.
Roger L. Hamrick was born on December 15, 1954, in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Donald L. and Verna B. (Jacobs) Hamrick. He married Maria H. “Mary” Martinez on April 13, 1973, in Stryker and she survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Jennifer Marie (Shawn) Hamrick Taylor, of Stryker; one granddaughter, Tiera (and fiance, Jordan Clark), of Stryker; his siblings, Jane (Dale) Gladstone, of Wildomar, California, Terry Hamrick, of Reno, Nevada, Gary (Deb) Hamrick, of Montpelier, Ohio, Rick Hamrick, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Garneita (Bill) Tross, of Madison, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Mousser. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judith Lynn and Joyce Ann Hamrick.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Dave Nicholls officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
