The Defiance City Board of Education decided at Wednesday’s meeting, eighth-graders will have the use of iPads at the start of the next school year.
The board approved iPad use in the classroom for grades 8–12. For the past two years, students and teachers in grades 9–12 have used iPads.
The two-year lease on the current iPads is expiring and the district can enter into a buy-back program offering an average of $220 for the 700 iPads. The district will then use that money to buy 950 iPads and 55 desktop computers. The extra 250 iPads will be used by the eighth graders.
