Harold Wheeler, 84

Harold J. Wheeler, 84 years, of West Unity, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan.  Harold was born November 14, 1930 in Waldron, Michigan, the son of the late Clifford and Velma (Fulk) Wheeler.  He married Lois “Arlene” Kuney on November 17, 1951 in West Unity, and she survives.  Harold has worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, beginning with clearing the land the Turnpike is built upon, pumping gas at the gas station and retiring as a Foreman working out of the Kunkle Garage in 1994.  Harold was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, where he served as a Treasurer for many years.  He also was a member of the Montpelier Moose Lodge #312 as well as the Friends of Harrison Lake.  Harold was honored to serve as the Grand Marshall of the Bryan Jubilee Parade.  He thoroughly enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and going to gun shows, buying and selling guns.  He was also known as an excellent cook.

Surviving is his wife, Lois of West Unity; three children, Rick (Susan) Wheeler of Defiance, Lonny (Becky) Wheeler of West Unity and Vicky Wheeler Herzog of West Unity; seven grandchildren, Derek (Alison) Wheeler, Brian Wheeler, Liz (Jason) Cisneros, Matt (Jaclyn) Wheeler, Ryan (Beth) Koverman, Amber (Jeremy) Keller and Jade Herzog; nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Wheeler and one sister, Ruth Sinclair.

There will be no visitation and private family services will be held.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity.
