Fatal Crashes On The Increase In Ohio

An uptick in fatal crashes here in Ohio, has the high­way patrol urg­ing dri­vers to use cau­tion. Statewide, there has been an increase of 38 fatal­i­ties this year over the same period last year. There are 600 con­firmed fatal­i­ties this year com­pared to the 562 fatal­i­ties that were con­firmed a year ago. Accord­ing to the high­way patrol, statewide traf­fic deaths were sig­nif­i­cantly higher dur­ing the months of Jan­u­ary, Feb­ru­ary and May this year, with May being the worst month for traf­fic deaths in a decade. As for the local fig­ures… The High­way Patrol reports a total of 23 fatal crashes in the six-county area… six in Defi­ance County, four in each of Ful­ton, Henry Pauld­ing and Williams coun­ties, and one in Put­nam County… an 18 per­cent increase com­pared to fig­ures from the same time frame in 2014.
