Paul “Tom” Baltosser, 81

Paul H. “Tom” Baltosser, 81 years, of Tapiola, Michigan, and formerly of West Unity, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Hospice of Lenawee, Adrian, Michigan.  Tom was born August 24, 1933 in West Unity, Ohio the son of the late Paul H. and Helen (Rataiczak) Baltosser.  He was a graduate of Stryker High School.  Tom served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Ellen S. Hendrickson on June 28, 1959 in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2013. Tom was the owner of Tom’s Gulf, Ace Corners in Pioneer, and Tom’s Arco later known as Tom’s Marathon station in West Unity. He also ran the Marathon bulk route and the Kunkle Carry-out. He attended Pelkie Mennonite Church in the Upper Peninsula. Tom enjoyed spending time working with wood, gardening, and grooming his lawn. He took passion in his work and built a covered bridge with a toll house on the property in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors especially grooming trails in the woods with the assistance of his faithful companion Idgie, his border collie.

Surviving is his daughter, Jackie (Jimmy L.) Borton of Morenci, Michigan; three grandson, Clayton Borton, of Morenci, Michigan, Josh (Brooke) Borton and their children, of Tecumseh, Michigan, and Dustin (Des) Borton and their children, of Adrian, Michigan; one brother, Don (Bonnie) Baltosser of Bryan, Ohio,one sister-in-law, Millie (Roger) Little of Calumet, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, Sarah Rittenhouse, and two brothers, Rodney and Jon Baltosser.

Visitation for Tom Baltosser will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held at Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.  in the funeral home with Emanuel Byler officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity, Ohio with military graveside rites conducted by West Unity American Legion Post 669.
