Richard “Dick” Caulkins, 89

Richard M. “Dick” Caulkins, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 6:20 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center. He was a graduate of West Unity High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Dick retired as a truck driver and had worked at the Bonded station in Bryan as well as several other locations around the area. He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, Bryan VFW Post #2489 and Bryan American Legion Post #284. He enjoyed the former Bryan Speedway, coaching men’s softball and spending time at Frankie’s Restaurant in Bryan.

Richard M. Caulkins was born on November 12, 1925, in West Unity, Ohio, the son of Tom H. and Nellie (Orewiler) Caulkins. He married Virginia Coulon on June 29, 1946 and she preceded him in death on June 19, 1988.

Richard is survived by his son, James (Vickie) Caulkins, of Bryan; six grandchildren, Candy (Sheldon) Lovelace, of Flower Mound, Texas, Janelle (Joe) Aten, of San Antonio, Texas, Nichole Ryder, of Abington, Pennsylvania, Heather Johnston, of Montpelier, Shaylee (Honore) Carmona, of Arlington, Virginia and Cory Caulkins, of Bryan; six great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tiffany, Jessica and Connor Aten, Aulay Woolf and Isaiah Caulkins; many nieces and nephews and special friends and neighbors, Todd and Norma Fruth. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Rick and wife Marge Caulkins and a sister, Betty Bushong.

A memorial service for Richard M. Caulkins will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Pastor Dean Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 P.M., prior to the service. Interment will be in Shiffler Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Bryan VFW Post #2489
