Herbert “Joe” M. White, 82, of Montpelier died Wednesday at his home. He was born on November 25, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Clarence Merle and Adaline Christina (Chester) White. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. While serving he married his wife Leota M. Semer on August 27, 1951; she preceded him in death on May 23, 2008.
Joe was an Air Motor Assembler at ARO Corporation in Bryan for 38 years, before retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Pioneer American Legion Post. Early in his life Joe was a devoted Jockey, trainer, owner, and exercise rider of thoroughbred horses. He was an avid Cleveland Indians Ohio State and Boston Celtics fan. Joe loved to coon hunt. And he was very devoted to his wife.
Joe is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Leota, and three brothers, Franklin, Wallace and John Chester White.
Graveside services will be on Sunday May 26th at 2pm at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio with Reverend Bruce Tumblin to officiate. Donations may be made to Pioneer American Legion Post #301.
