Alan L. Culler, 84

Alan L. Culler, 84 years, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Alan was born July 15, 1934 in Sherwood, Ohio, the son of the late Calvin M. and Mabel L. (Lipp) Culler. He was a 1952 graduate of Mark Center High School. He married Arlene E. Joost on October 16, 1955 in St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, Ohio, and she survives. Alan was a Brick Mason and farmer, installing fireplaces and bricking the front of many homes in the area. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and Officer. He was a member of the church building committee in 1964 and active with the Men’s Club. An avid Detroit Tigers fan, Alan also enjoyed spending winters in Florida, walking the beach. He truly treasured the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren and their activities.

Surviving is his wife, Arlene of Sherwood; three children, Kristen (David) Bischoff of Decatur, Indiana, Kreg (Joni) Culler of Ney and Kerry (Lowell) Teska of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Matt Bischoff, Kyle (Casey) Bischoff, Ashleigh (Gavin Gardner) Culler, Keenan (Brianna) Culler, Kasen Culler, Evin (Matthew) Zachrich and Wes (Lauren) Teska; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Guilford of Hicksville and two sisters-in-law, Judy Culler of Redford, Michigan and Hermena Case of Bryan along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Culler and one sister, Norma Culler.

Visitation for Alan L. Culler will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood. Funeral services for Alan will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in St. John Lutheran Church, 9088 Openlander Road, Sherwood with Pastor Eric Moquin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will also receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
