Arnold G. Casty, age 80, of Evansport, passed away Friday afternoon, July 5, 2013 in the Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community in Lebanon, Ohio. Prior to his retirement, He had worked for the former Aro Corporation (now Ingersoll Rand) in Bryan as a Machinist. For many years he had served as a volunteer firefighter for the Tiffin Township Fire Department.
Arnold was born in Burlington, Iowa on March 29, 1933, the son of Barth and Minna (Kalkbrenner) Casty. On September 1, 1956 he married Lois Rodgers, and she survives. He was a member of the Evansport United Methodist Church. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion Post 284 in Bryan.
Surviving, besides his wife, Lois, are two daughters, Kim (Kevin) Moore of Centerville, OH, and Kristine (Jack) Blosser of Oregonia, OH; seven granddaughters, one grandson; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hans, and an infant sister, Betty Lou.
Visitation for Arnold will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the Evansport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Becky Ploughe, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evansport Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Evansport United Methodist Church Building Facility Improvement Fund, Tiffin Township Fire Department, or Tiffin Township EMS.
