Audrey May Scott, 99, of Montpelier, passed away early Monday morning at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on March 15, 1917 near Melbern, Ohio to Charles G. and Gertrude E. (Landel) Spangler. Audrey graduated from Bryan High School in 1935. On October 31, 1936 she married Orville D. Scott and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2004.
Audrey retired from the Ohio Art Company in Bryan in 1979 where she worked as an Etch-A-Sketch assembler for over 19 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Williams County Historical Society, both in Montpelier. Audrey enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. All enjoyed her prize winning sugar cookies. She and Orville loved to take road trips across the United States. Audrey was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (William) Stoops of Montpelier; one son, Dean (Calista) Scott of La Conner, Washington; five grandchildren, Scott (Shiela) Stoops, Anthony (Michele) Stoops, Lisa (Larry) Heiner, Kent (Bridget) Scott, and Kaia (Nathan) Causey; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Huber of Tennessee and Mary Lykins of Bryan.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Scott; two brothers, Ford and Kermit Spangler; and five sisters, Mildred Snyder, Pauline Merica, Olivia Goss, Neva Zachrich and Sue Davis.
Visitation for Audrey will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home, Empire Street Chapel, 335 Empire Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will be the following day, Friday, May 20th at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffery Bischoff to officiate. Interment will take place at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan. Memorials may be made in Audrey’s memory to the Zion Lutheran Church in Montpelier.
