Barbara Avona (Johnston) Eschhofen, 87

Barbara Avona (Johnston) Eschhofen, age 87, of Bryan, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at her home. Born April 14, 1929 in Edgerton, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of Carleton D. and V. Hope (Farnham) Johnson and was a graduate of Bryan High School.

She married LaVon C. Eschhofen on January 16, 1949 and they lived 40 years on their farm north of Bryan where they raised three sons. In 1989 they moved to Norlick Place and also built a home at River Greens Golf Course in Avon Park, Florida, where they spent winters for 25 years. Barbara volunteered at the Church Women United Thrift Shop and delivered Meals on Wheels. She loved to play Bridge or any other card game. She was a Charter Member of the Top of Ohio Sweet Adelines for 30 years and sang in church choirs. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Serendipity Circle and had also been a member of the Avon Park (Florida) United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Mike Eschhofen, of Cleveland, Dave Eschhofen, of Pensacola, Florida and Jeff (Sherri) Eschhofen, of Bryan; granddaughters, Jessica (Rich) Mercadante, of Fort Myers, Florida, Stephanie Eschhofen, of Bryan and Sindy (Josh) Weston, of Bryan; great-granddaughter, Cora Weston, of Bryan; sister, Mary Hovis, of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Buddie (Carol) Eschhofen, of Bryan and sisters-in-law, Chris Johnston, of Mission Viejo, California and Aileene Christman, of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVon, on April 10, 2012 and her brother, Carl W. Johnston.

Visitation for Barbara A. Eschhofen will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan with Pastor Jeffrey Motter officiating. Interment will be at Shiffler Cemetery.

Memorials in the name of Barbara A. Eschhofen may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
