Barbara Dietrich, 79

Barbara Ann Dietrich, age 79, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Friday, January 17, 2014, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Dietrich was a 1952 graduate of Montpelier High School and a 1954 graduate of Warner College of Beauty Culture. Following college, she worked at Yoder Beauty Salon in Montpelier, Ohio, for many years and then at Bryan Nursing Care Center as a nurses’ aide and at several area restaurants, including Frankie’s, Lester’s and McDonald’s. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the women’s circle. For many years she was an avid bowler and enjoyed volunteering at the Bryan Senior Center.

Barbara Ann Dietrich was born on July 2, 1934, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Virgil E. and Martha (Fritz) Luke. She married Elmer C. Dietrich on October 29, 1960, in Montpelier and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, David C. Dietrich, of Van Wert, Ohio, and Alan (Anne) Dietrich, of Bryan; three grandchildren, Joshua A. Dietrich, of Bryan, Jeremiah R. Dietrich, of Defiance, Ohio, and Melanie D. Dietrich, of West Lafayette, Indiana; and one sister, Janice E. Swank, of Owosso, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, LaVerne Boisher.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Reverend Jeffrey Motter officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, in the funeral home.
