Bennie Irvin Beck, age 76, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 1:15 A.M. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. Mr. Beck was a 1955 graduate of Montpelier High School, where he was an accomplished athlete in track, in which he still holds the NWOAL record for winning four first place finishes in one meet; basketball, in which he lettered for three years; and football, in which he lettered for four years. He attended Defiance College and Bowling Green State University prior to being drafted into the Army in 1961. During his work career, he was employed by The Aro Corporation as a machinist, retiring with over thirty years of service. An avid outdoors man, Bennie loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed archery and bow hunting and also was a well-known breeder of beagles. He was a member of Montpelier Eagles, Aerie #2246.
Bennie Irvin Beck was born on April 18, 1937, in Alvordton, Ohio, the son of Delbert and Bessie (Dickenson) Beck. He married Patricia Sue Brown on November 6, 1964, in Montpelier and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jodi (Kevin) Schelling, of Bryan, Ohio; four grandchildren, Rowen, Hunter, Henna and Zaeli; two sisters, Donna O’Brien, of Bryan, and Cheryle (Michael) Wagner, of Cedar, Minnesota; and one brother, Donald (Faith) Beck, of Camden, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Beck, one brother, Denver Beck, and two sisters, Betty Beck and Pat Wiehe.
In accordance with Bennie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Krill Funeral Service 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, is handling arrangements.
