Betty E. Pearson, 93

Betty E. Pearson, 93, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville.  Betty was born January 27, 1930, in Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lola Leona (Scott) Tomlinson.  She was a 1948 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Betty married Virgil A. “Pete” Pearson on April 29, 1951, in Hicksville, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2010.  Betty was a co-owner of Hulbert & Tomlinson Hay and Straw with her husband, retiring in 1992.  She was an active member of the Hicksville Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she served as the church pianist and organist, Treasurer for 25 years, and taught both children and adult classes.  In addition, Betty also gave piano lessons for 26 years, volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, served as Secretary for the Crippled Children & Adult Society for 40 years, and was a member of the Hicksville Historical Society.  In her free time, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and crafting, especially cross stitching and crocheting.

Betty is survived by her two children, Alan (Jo) Pearson of Sherwood, Oregon, and Wendy (Mark) Wehrung of Sheridan, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah Loughney) Pearson of Tualatin, Oregon, Reid (Kassidy) Pearson or Novato, California, Ryan (Molly) Pearson of Happy Valley, Oregon, and Anthony (Jenny) Aiello of Sheridan, Wyoming; and one great-grandchild, Ari Pearson, with a second on the way.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil A. “Pete” Pearson; and one infant grandson.

Visitation for Betty E. Pearson will be held from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.   Funeral services for Betty will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 2:00 P.M.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Hicksville Seventh Day Adventist Church, or to the Huber Opera House & Civic Center.
