Bill Spangler, 75

William H. “Bill” Spangler, 75 years, of Evansport, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Genesis – Twin Rivers Nursing Home, Defiance.  Bill was born December 23, 1937 in Bryan, the son of Carl and Thelma (Missler) Spangler.  He married Cleona J. Lutz on August 29, 1966 in Bryan.  Bill was a machine operator for Johns Manville for 37 years, retiring in 1996.  He was a member of Restoration Fellowship, Defiance.  Bill was known to be an excellent wine maker.  He also enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, especially rooting for Sam Hornish.  He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

Surviving is his wife, Cleona of Evansport; five children, Kym (James) Kurtz of Edgerton, Ohio, Dennis (Kristian) Spangler of Sherwood, Ohio, Christine (Bruce) Alwood of Toledo, Ohio, Kevin (Susanna) Spangler of Edgerton and Denise (Chris) Norrick of Montpelier, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one brother, Marty Spangler of Bryan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and  four great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for William H. “Bill” Spangler will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity with Pastor Janet Strickland officiating.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
