BMU Internet Service to be discontinued.

BMU Media release:

On August 6, 2024 with the passage of Resolution 17, 2024 by the Bryan
Board of Public Affairs, Bryan Municipal Utilities (BMU) internet service will no longer be
available effective December 9, 2024 at 4:00 pm. Internet service will remain active until the
above-mentioned date at which time BMU will no longer have the ability to provide this
service.
After a lengthy analysis and review of declining revenues, customer subscriptions and the
substantial capital investment required to replace obsolete equipment, it became apparent
that BMU internet service can no longer be competitive. “Discontinuing BMU internet
service was the most logical and fiscally responsible approach for the City of Bryan, our residents and businesses. We have been proud to service our community for the past twenty-
four years but the challenge of competing and providing an appropriately priced service has proven too large to overcome” said Director of Utilities Schultz.
We realize the inconvenience this may cause both residential and business customers, do
know that all customers currently have at least one alternate provider in our area and
satellite internet providers are an additional option.
We would like to thank our dedicated, long time internet customers for your many years of
support to Bryan Municipal Utilities and the Bryan community.
