Robert “Bob” G. Teats, 92, of Montpelier passed away Friday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 17, 1923 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to William Roby and Viola Catherine (Musser) Teats. Bob graduated from Montpelier High School in 1942. On August 20, 1949 he married Ida A. Jones in Angola, Indiana and she survives.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier. In 1985 he retired from Winzeler Stamping Company in Montpelier after 30 years as a press operator. He also worked for W.C. Heller Company in Montpelier for 10 years. Bob was a former member of the Odd Fellows in Montpelier. He enjoyed bowling at Neco-Lanes in Montpelier, was a Detroit Tigers fan and also enjoyed fishing with his father.
He is survived by Ida, his wife of 65 years; two daughters, Vickie (Gary) Sherwood of Falcon, Colorado and Betty (Tom) Trausch of Edon; six grandchildren, Merah (Gregg) Urban, Erin (Kerrick) Krill, Jessica (fiance Steve Doctor) Manson, David (Melissa) Trausch, Lucas (Liz) Trausch and Jacob (Veronica) Trausch; and seventeen great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother William O. Teats, and two sisters Edna Scantlen and Gertrude Fisher.
Visitation for Bob will be on Tuesday April 28th from 4-8pm at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home at 335 Empire Street in Montpelier. Services will be on Wednesday at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier with Reverend David Tilly to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, CHP Hospice or to the Gideon’s.
