Bruce E. Ringenberg, 80

Bruce E. Ringenberg, 80, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023.  Bruce was born October 28, 1943, in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late Herbert W. and Maryellen (Seslar) Ringenberg.  He was a 1961 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Bruce served in the United States Army from July 5, 1966, until his honorable discharge on July 3, 1968.  Bruce worked for several factories and businesses over the years, including BF Goodrich, Magnavox, West & Metz Shell Station, International Harvester, Dietrich Industries, and Nemco Food Equipment, all the while farming the family land.  He was a member of the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, NRA (lifetime member) and the Disabled American Veterans (lifetime member).  Bruce was also active with Hicksville Peewee & Little League baseball, 4-H, Horse Barn, and Boy Scouts.  He was an avid winter sports fan and enjoyed watching Cleveland Browns football and Pittsburg Penguins ice hockey.  Bruce valued time spent with his family and friends, especially with his son in Alabama, and with his classmates at their regular lunches.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ringenberg of Hicksville; three children, Tim Ringenberg of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tom Ringenberg of Prattville, Alabama, and Julie Wellisley of North Carolina; three grandchildren; two siblings, Janis (Marv) Edwards of Hicksville and Cheryl (Chuck) Unger of Harlan, Indiana; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Bruce E. Ringenberg will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville.  Funeral Services for Bruce will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating.  Interment will follow in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, Indiana, where Miliary Rites will be accorded by the combined honor detail from the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, Farmer American Legion Post 137, and Sherwood VFW Post 5665.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
