Carol J. Jennings, 89, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at Park View Care Center, Edgerton, Ohio. Carol was born December 23, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Harrison C. and Jane (Dorrance) Annis. She attended Edon Northwest Local Schools. Carol worked in the kitchen at the former Fountain Manor Nursing Home in Hicksville for many years. She also provided home care for many individuals with mental and physical impairments. Carol grew up in the Episcopal church and was baptized at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Detroit. She was a life member of the Antwerp VFW Post 5087 and a former member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556. Carol was a talented cook and would try new recipes often, using many of the vegetables she grew in her garden and canned. Most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving is her seven children, Cheryl Smith of Hicksville, Linda (Bill) Elwood of Hicksville, Janie Smith of Ocala, Florida, Carrie (Greg) Livensparger of Edon, Ohio, Eric Heitzmann of Dallas, Texas, Jeff (Tabitha) Heitzmann of Lima, Ohio, and Brian (Norma) Heitzmann of Bryan, Ohio; 33 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Julie Onstott, Susie Busche and Lisa Sherman; one son, Kent Hayes; one grandson, Alex Hayes; and two great-grandsons, Jacob Young and Brendon Elwood.

To honor Carol’s wishes, no public visitation or services will be held at this time. Private inurnment will take place in the family plot at West Woodbridge Cemetery, Camden, Michigan. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio.
