Carol Lee Helbert-Grimm, 77, of Butler, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on June 24, 1947, in Hicksville, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of the late George W. and Lena (Ernest) Tustison.
A proud 1965 graduate of Eastside High School in Butler, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Helbert, on June 26, 1965. Together, they created a loving home and a beautiful life filled with cherished memories for 52 years until his passing on March 10, 2018. She later found happiness again and married James Grimm on December 9, 2020, who survives her, and was delighted to welcome many bonus children into her life.
Carol began her working career at Kaiser Market before dedicating 25 years to Knisley Bank, where she was a valued employee before her retirement in 2012.
A faithful member of Christ Church at Butler, she was known for her kind heart and spirit.
Gardening was one of Carol’s greatest passions. Her and her husband, Jim, found immense joy in bird watching and spending countless hours creating flower gardens. She also loved sewing, needlepointing, and crocheting, but her true joy came from the time spent with her four grandchildren. From arrowhead hunting, sledding in the snow, and rolling down hills, to crafting root beer floats and taking little Dollar General shopping trips for cheap toys, Carol’s adventurous spirit and loving nature created lasting memories. She took pride in her granddaughter Lena’s talent as a nail technician and enjoyed getting her nails done regularly. Carol made special Christmas cookies with her grandchildren every year and always made Christmas feel warm and cozy for everyone.
Carol is survived by her husband, James Grimm, of Butler; her sister, Joan Kimmel; two children, Kristine Pulver of Leo, Indiana, and Brett (Jennifer) Helbert of Butler; four grandchildren, Jacob (Taryn) Pulver, Joshua (Diedre) Pulver, Logan Helbert, and Lena Helbert; and one special great-granddaughter, Saylor Ray Pulver. Additionally, she is survived by numerous bonus children, including Wendy (Rudy) Parra, Heidi (Keith) Greer, Mandy Grimm, Thadd (Pam) Grimm, Jason (Adina) Grimm, and Allen (Elise) Grimm, along with 18 bonus grandchildren and 16 bonus great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dennis Helbert; her son-in-law, Raymond Pulver Jr.; two brothers, George Tustison Jr. and Paul Jean Tustison; her sister, Pat Goings; and her bonus daughter, Miranda Grimm.
