Cassandra (Schalow) Baden, 76

Cassandra (Schalow) Baden passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Cassie was born on September 11, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio. Graduating from Holland High School in 1960, she worked at Toledo Edison as an Executive Secretary for over 25 years. She married the love of her life, Larry Baden, on December 6, 1963. Together they raised two sons and their granddaughter Cassidy. After retirement, Cassie and Larry moved from Toledo to Lake Seneca in Montpelier, Ohio. Cassie loved her family, her friends, children, cooking, gardening, art, poetry, music, reading and caring for others. She will be deeply missed by the many who loved her. Remembering her forever are husband Larry; dear son Drew (Mary); beloved grandchildren Cassidy (Bret) Berry, Liam Baden, Brenna Baden and Janeal Rahman; great-grandchildren Chloe Berry, Angel, Aleyah and Ariela Cintron; brothers Mark, Bud (Bunnie) and Darrel (Robin) Schalow; sister-in-law Bonnie (Randy) Edinger; a host of nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends. She was preceded in death by her son Lane Baden in 2010. Arrangements by Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. A memorial service honoring Cassie’s life will be held at a later date. “When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove, but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts.” Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
