Defiance City Schools officials reported a vague threat by a middle school student. A 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with inducing panic, making false alarms, menacing and intimidation. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Stryker, pending a court date.

A rural Defiance man enters a plea to two child sexual abuse charges in Defiance County. Bruce Sheets will wait for a pre-sentence investigation…his bond was continued. Sentencing is scheduled for March 29. Sheets had sexual contact with a female juvenile in 2015 and 2016.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Maumee River near Defiance affecting Defiance and Henry counties. Forecasters say rainfall and runoff will cause the river to rise above flood stage. The river will rise above flood stage and crest near 10.9 feet, Thursday morning.
