A culvert replacement begins today here in Williams County that will shut down a portion of U.S. 20A. The closure is scheduled for thoday through Friday May 20th, U.S. 20A, between County Road 21 and County Road 22, will be closed for culvert replacement. A marked detour will be at State Road 66, US 20, & U.S. 127.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance with locating a wanted registered sex offender. On May 5th an arrest warrant was issued by the Steuben Superior Court charging 25-year-old Samuel Brett Smith with one count of level 6 felony failure to register as a sex or violent offender. The arrest warrant follows a Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations Smith failed to reside at his registered address and his exact whereabouts are unknown, but may possibly be in the Angola area. Smith is described as a white male standing 5’7” tall and weighs approximately 155 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Smith was last known to have facial hair. Anyone with information on Samuel Smith’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office or Steuben County Crime Stoppers.
