Catherine M. Potts-Deitrich, 66

Catherine M. Potts-Deitrich, 66, of Rotonda West, Florida, and formerly of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida.  Cathy was born June 4, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Michael C. and Mary E. (Walls) Muchnok.  She was a 1975 graduate of Reading High School and received her paramedic certificate from Rhodes State College.  Cathy married Billy Joe Potts on October 1, 1977, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2012.  She then married David Deitrich on July 4, 2020, and he survives.  Cathy worked as an instructor at Four County Career Center in Archbold, Ohio, and served as a paramedic with the Sherwood Village and Delaware Township Fire Departments.  She also spent time working at MedCorp and Dietrich Industries.  Cathy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rotunda West, Florida.  She was also a member of the Delaware Township and Sherwood Village Volunteer Fire Department, Hicksville Eagles Aerie #2556, Englewood Moose Lodge 1933, and the American Legion Post 113 Auxiliary in Rotunda West, Florida.  In retirement, Cathy enjoyed spending time on the beach, listening to live music, motorcycling, and crafting.

Cathy is survived by her husband, David Deitrich of Rotonda West, Florida; two daughters, Sara (Jason) Thompson of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Jennifer (Dayton) Smith of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one stepson, David A Deitrich of Defiance, Ohio; two grandsons, William Gabriel Michael Thompson, and Robert Lee Thompson; and two sisters, Linda (Jack) Brown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Theresa Hamrick of Haines City, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Billy.

Visitation for Catherine M. Potts-Deitrich will be held Friday, July 21, 2023, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood.  Graveside Funeral Services for Cathy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Sherwood Cemetery.
