CCNO looking to send inmate mail scanning services off-site.

The Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio is looking to send inmate mail scanning services off-site to free up personnel for other duties. CCNO Director, Dennis Sullivan informed the Financial Committee of the idea and said he is trying to work that into the upcoming new contract for phones and tablets, for which bids are being taken. Currently, staff at CCNO scans the mail and sends it to the inmates tablets. Currently, if mail from an inmate’s attorney is sent, a guard has to open the mail in front of the inmate and inspect it while not reading it. Offiicals are also asking for TV FM receivers to be added to the contract, which would provide headphones from which inmates could listen to the audio of TVs. The additions to the contract would be dependent on cost, and any final decision would go before the full CCNO board.
