CCNO may extend electronic monitoring services to a non-member county.

The Corrections Commission of Northwest Ohio may extend electronic monitoring services to a non-member county. Executive Director Dennis Sullivan told the board a former employee of the facility, who is now a probation officer in Paulding County, reached out to see if CCNO would be interested in contracting for electronic monitoring services for youth offenders in Paulding County. He added CCNO plans on charging a higher rate for the service than it does to member counties, though negotiations are still continuing. The board also discussed options for a body scanner. The current one is five years old and the warranty is expiring. The board discussed whether to extend a warranty for three or five years, or purchase a new one, which would cost $147,500. The new one would be an upgrade from the current one, but Sullivan said the AI technology being used with it would take about two years to fully develop. By then, the facility may need a new one. The board directed Sullivan to try to negotiate for extending the warranty for three years at a cost of $24,000 dollars and see if the company would take that payment and apply it toward a new one in a couple of years.
