CCNO Recognizes Volunteers

Volunteers at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio received special recognition, including honoring the Volunteer of the Year, during the 24th annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet held Tuesday. Volunteer Jim Scruta of Napoleon, who has been a volunteer there since 2001, was named the CCNO Volunteer of the Year for 2014.

In 2014, he donated 241.5 hours of service, the second highest number of hours to be donated during the year. Jim serves as a religious volunteer, assisting with services for the Monday night men’s Bible study groups as well as the Thursday night Catholic services. He has also helped out with special services and events scheduled throughout the year. In addition to completing the four-hour of basis training as a volunteer, Mr. Scruta completed 40 hours of non-security specialized training at CCNO which allows him to transport offenders to and from various services. CCNO is currently in need of AA volunteers, especially female AA Volunteers. Volunteer applications can be found at www.ccnoregionaljail.org.
