Charles Case, 92

Charles William Case, 92 years, of Sherwood, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at The Inns and Villas at Fountain Park, Bryan with his family at his side.  Charles was born August 17, 1922 in Wauseon, Ohio, the son of the late Pierre and Clara (Knierim) Case.

Charles was baptized into the church on April 22, 1938.  He was a 1940 graduate of Farmer High School.  Charles was a WWII United States Army veteran.  He married Hermena M. Joost on November 12, 1943 in Sherwood, and she survives.  Charles was a lifelong farmer.  He also had worked at 50 Corp in Bryan.  He also hauled milk for Borden’s Dairy and worked at Landmark in Sherwood.  He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood where he served as a Past President of the church council, taught Sunday School for a number of years and organized the Men’s Club.  Charles served as a Farmer Township Trustee for 12 years as well serving on the Landmark Board of Directors.  Charles had a number of interest which included fishing, traveling and playing cards.  Charles and Hermena spent 21 winters in Florida.

Surviving is his wife Hermena; four children, Judy (Bill) Ray of Sherwood, Charles Thomas (Cyndi) Case of Sherwood, Debbie Roberts of Oak Harbor, Ohio and Janet (David) Schumm of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Jeb Ray, Melissa (Ted) Kunkel, Luke (Dawn) Case, Adam (Michelle) Roberts, Laura (LaMonte Foster) Roberts, Katie (Read) McFaddin and Jonathan (Amy) Schumm and 11 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Andrea Case.

Visitation for Charles W. Case will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 -8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood.  Funeral services for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. John  Lutheran Church, 09088 Openlander Road, Sherwood with Pastor Eric Moquin officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
