Charles Dee Cottrell, 74 years, of Stryker, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Charles was born March 21, 1939 in Rosedale, Indiana, the son of the late Devaudria Jefferson and Mary Laverne (Spencer) Cottrell. He was a 1957 graduate of Rosedale High School, Rosedale, Indiana and a 1963 graduate of Valparaiso Technical Institute. He served in the Air National Guard. Charles married Sandra Jean Long on January 15, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a Communications Technician for ANR Pipeline for 16 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Sonrise Community Church, Ney, Ohio. He enjoyed model trains, electronics, woodworking and being “Mr. Fix It”.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra of Stryker; three sons, Jim (Lian) Cottrell of Fishers, Indiana, Doug (Cathy) Cottrell of Bryan, Ohio and Carl (Jolene) Cottrell of Sherwood, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nicole Cottrell, Michaela Cottrell, Clayton Cottrell and Kyle Cottrell; one brother, Robert (Paulette) Cottrell of Rosedale, Indiana along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Charles Dee Cottrell will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood. Funeral services for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, Ohio.
