Charles R. “Charlie” Brown, Sr., 63, of Hamilton, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023. Charlie was born May 8, 1959, in San Jose, California, son of Richard R. and Nancy E. (Brown) Mierendorf. He was a 1978 graduate of Stevenson High School, Skamania County, Washington. After graduation, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving until his honorable discharge in February 1989. He married Donna M. Covington on September 8, 1986, in Woodburn, Oregon, and she preceded him in death on April 23, 2015. Charlie worked as an over-the-road truck driver for over 18 years, retiring in 2017. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed hanging out at the Hamilton Fish & Game Club, where he was a member, or he could be found tinkering on something. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren, which he valued above all.
Charles is survived by his two children, Charles R. “CJ” (Danielle Barr) Brown, Jr., of Hamilton, and Christina Dague of Port Clinton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; mother, Nancy E. Brown of Berne, Oregon; one brother, Larry (Sandy) Brown of Berne, Oregon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Richard R. Mierendorf; and by his wife, Donna M. Brown.
Per the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services held at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hamilton, 3985 East Church Street Hamilton, Indiana 46742.
