Citizens group wants two way traffic instead of one way

A citizens group is circulating an petition put an ordinance on the November ballot to restore two-way traffic to Fort Street, between North Clinton Street and Washington Avenue, and Washington Avenue, between Fort and Second Street. That would reverse a decision made in December 2014 by the city administrator to establish one-way traffic. The traffic pattern change was made by city administrator Jeff Leonard, and did not require city council’s approval. The filing deadline for the issue to be presented to the county’s board of elections for placement on the November ballot is 4 p.m. Aug 10. The board would determine the petition’s validity.
