City of Bryan honoring local resident for act of bravery.

The mayor of the city of Bryan will issue a formal proclamation honoring Zoey Kelley for her extraordinary act of bravery during a residential fire that occurred on October 6th at 1104 Alpine Drive in Bryan. On the evening of the fire, Ms. Kelley, while at work nearby, observed smoke and immediately took courageous action. Climbing a fence to investigate, she quickly called for emergency assistance and entered the front of the home where she discovered a resident, Mr. Glenn Ogle, trapped inside. Through her swift and selfless actions, Zoey pulled Mr. Ogle to safety, likely saving his life. Following this heroic rescue, she attempted to alert the resident of an adjoining apartment, entered a smoke-filled unit to ensure no one was inside, and informed arriving firefighters that the neighboring resident was unaccounted for. Firefighters later rescued two cats from the smoke-filled home. The proclamation ceremony will take place today at 7:00 PM at Majestic Care of Bryan.
