Cleona J. Spangler, 81 years, of Evansport, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at
Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. Cleona was born January 20,
1934, in West Unity, Ohio, the daughter of the late Cleo and Naomi (Esterline) Lutz. She was a
1952 graduate of Kunkle High School. She married William H. “Bill” Spangler on August 29,
1966, in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2013. Cleona worked at Hayes –
Albion as a press operator for 40 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of
Restoration Tabernacle in Defiance. Cleona enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, and embroidering.
She also like to spend time in her garden planting flowers and vegetables.
Left to mourn her passing is her son, Dennis (Kristian) Spangler of Sherwood; 4 stepchildren; 5
grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jade, Cleo, Broderick, and Althea Spangler; 10 step grandchildren; 16
step great-grandchildren and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, and one
great-granddaughter.
Private graveside funeral services will be held in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity, Ohio with
Pastor Janet Strickland officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull
Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations
made in Cleona’s name be given to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6825
North State Route 66, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
