Cletus A. Radabaugh, age 83, of Blakeslee, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Parkview Bryan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Clete was a freight agent and yard clerk for Norfolk & Southern Railroad, retiring with 42 years of service. He began his career on the Nickle Plate Railroad in February of 1960, later, with the Wabash Railroad, Norfolk and Western Railroad and retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the Transportation and Communications Union/IAM. He was also very active in the community. Clete was a longtime member of the Blakeslee Village Counsel, served 12 years as Mayor, was a former member of the Williams County Board of Elections and the Williams County Democratic Central Committee. He served on the Blakeslee Volunteer Fire Department and drove EMS for 28 years. He was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Clete was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. DeVeaux Council # 3883 and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Rappe Assembly # 824, a lay reader and lay distributor of the Holy Eucharist. He was a member of the Montpelier Moose Lodge, an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan and devoted Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan, also serving as an usher at Notre Dame Stadium for 20 years.
Cletus A. Radabaugh was born on September 22, 1941, in Blakeslee, Ohio, the son of John W. and Martha J. (Held) Radabaugh. He attended St. Joseph Elementary School in Blakeslee, graduated from Edon High School in 1959, railroad school at Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN and attended Davis College, in Toledo. Clete married Mary Lou Reinhart on September 22, 1962 in Edgerton and she survives.
Clete is also survived by his children, Brenda (Kim) Radabaugh, of Temperance, MI, Helen (Pete) Snyder, of Toledo, Stanley (Brigitte) Radabaugh, of Holland, OH and Cathy Horn, of Edon and seven grandchildren, Marah (Ginger), Gunnar, Caleb (Jaimie), Alyssa, Dylan (Alex), Abby and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Radabaugh and his brothers, Ralph, Eugene, Leon, Marvin and Loman Radabaugh.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Mary Catholic School, the Edon Softball or Volleyball teams, or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
