Clyde W. Oyer, 92

Clyde W. Oyer, 92, of Pioneer, passed away early Wednesday morning at Hillside Country Living in rural Bryan. He was born on December 25, 1924 in Pioneer to Samuel and Susannah (Rediger) Oyer. Clyde proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the infantry. On June 5, 1943, he married Marguerite Frances Leist in Delphos, Ohio and she preceded him in death in February 2012.

Clyde owned a small farm in Hamilton, Indiana for 30 years before moving back to Pioneer. He was a member of the Pioneer Evangelical Mennonite Church which became the West Unity Evangelical Church and is now Solid Rock Community Church.
He taught Sunday School for many years, and served as a deacon. He retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission as a toll collector after 20 years.

He is survived by three children Suzanne (Dean) Cryer of Montpelier, Terry (Patricia) Oyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Cheryl (David) Moore of Pioneer; two grandchildren Kelly (Bill) Livensparger and Christopher (Stacy) Moore; and four great grandchildren.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marguerite, sister Beulah Case, and grandson Kevin Dean Cryer.

Per Clyde’s request a private interment will be held at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer with Pastor Timm Oyer to officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to CHP-Hospice.
