A two-vehicle collision at the Williams-Fulton County line north of West Unity on Wednesday has claimed the life of a Bryan woman.
52 year old Jean Rychener [RICK-NER] of Bryan, was driving east on U.S. 20, as 70 year old Kathaleen Schmitt of Alvordton [ALL-VORD-TON], was driving west.
Rychener lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered road, crossed over the center line, and crashed into Schmitt’s vehicle head-on.
Rychener and a passenger, 32 year old Jermey Nieto of Hamler, were taken to the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. Rychener died shortly after arrival there. Nieto was transferred to the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Rychener’s other passenger, 27 year old Matthew Gray of Defiance, was taken in critical condition to Toledo Hospital.
Schmitt and her passenger, 64 year old Steve Plummer, were also taken to the Fulton County Health Center, then transferred to UTMC.
The accident remains under investigation today.
