CRASH IN SHERWOOD

A three vehicle crash in Sherwood Monday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol at Defiance says a man named Joe Plummer was driving a Dodge pickup east on Ohio 18 at 7:20 a.m. as 47 year old Fred Kreiner of Wauseon was driving a Ford F-350 south on U.S. 127, hauling a trailer loaded with three other vehicles.

56 year old David Phares of New Carlisle was driving a tractor-trailer north on U.S. 127.

Plummer reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection. Kreiner’s Ford ran into Plummer’s Dodge on the driver’s side and pushed it in front of Phare’s rig.

Phares’ trailer broke loose on impact and hit a utility pole.

One of the vehicles on Kreiner’s trailer broke loose during the first impact and ran over the top of his F-350. The Highway Patrol says the intersection was closed for an hour as crews cleaned up the mess.

Plummer was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where he was treated and released.

Kreiner and Phares were not injured.
