Curtis G. Spengler, age 84, of Archbold, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, in his home. Prior to his retirement he worked at Sauder Manufacturing Company in Logistics for 18 years. Prior to that he had worked at LaChoy Food Products. After retirement, he filled his time by working at Seasons Bistro in Bryan, Ohio where he made many friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Spengler was born in Fulton County, Ohio, on October 11, 1934, the son of Edwin and Grace (Leu) Spengler. On September 5, 1953, he married June M. Gilson, and she preceded him in death in 2007. Together they were married 54 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wauseon, Ohio where he used his gift of teaching God’s Word. He and June relished spending time with their children and grandchildren and the impact of their sacrificial love continues to be felt. Curtis loved music and it was an innate part of him, writing lyrics, singing and playing.
Surviving are three daughters, Dawn (Wally) Buroker of Oxford, OH, Tamara (Dave) Taylor of Archbold, Kirtina West of Archbold; one son, Ryan (Janelle) Spengler of Fremont, IN; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Bryan, Tara, Alexa, Noah, Jillian, Gwen, Katie, Lily, and Juliette; and five great-grandchildren, Isaac, Grace, Callie, Camryn and Breck. He is also survived by one sister, Anna (John) Funk of Archbold.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Wauseon, with Pastor John Shirley, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. There will be no graveside service due to Mr. Spengler having donated his body to medical science through the University of Toledo Medical Center. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the First Baptist Church of Wauseon. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
