Dallas P. Whaley passed away at the age of 75 on March 15, 2017 in his home in Delta, Ohio of respiratory failure.
Dallas was born on March 8, 1942, in a ranch house near Longmont, Colorado, to Merle and Blanche (Hulvey) Whaley. He grew up with 2 brothers, Merle, Jr. and Dale. He spent much of his free time as a young man branding, herding cattle, and haying on ranches near Yampa, Colorado. and as far away as Wyoming. He loved building, remodeling, and designing houses and had a Custom Home Building business for 14 years in Grand Junction Colorado. He was Builder of the Year for one of his unique home designs. Later in life he became an over-the-road truck driver with various companies. His final position was with Air-Ride of Swanton, Oh.
He is survived by his devoted wife Ina Rae (Peebles) Whaley and children Karen Norton of Brighton, CO, Eric (Tammy) Whaley of Raton, NM, and his step-children Howard Puehler of Defiance, OH, Ben (Heather) Puehler of Wauseon, OH, Ted (Lori) Puehler of Lyons, OH. He loved his grandchildren, Sean (Maresa) Norton, Taylor (Brian) Langston, Kristen Whaley, Justin Whaley, Landon (Stephanie) Whaley, Melanie, Melinda (Eric Whitacre), Michelle and Megan Puehler, Samantha, Eric, and Cacey Puehler, Garrett and Zachary Puehler, as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Blanche Whaley, and brother Dale Whaley, uncle, Blain Whaley, as well as many cousins.
The highlight of any day was to show friends, family, and Barn Restaurant coffee drinkers pictures of his family and interests from Facebook, telling jokes and stories of his young life so that he felt a little closer to his home in the mountains of Colorado that he missed so much. Because of his chronic obstructive disease from being a long time cigarette smoker, he could no longer tolerate the thin air of that altitude.
There were no public services. Arrangements by Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, Oh.
