David A. Gorzelanczyk, 49

David A. Gorzelanczyk, 49 years, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, in his residence, with those he loved at his side. Dave was born January 8, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Chet and Carole (Grilj) Gorzelanczyk. He was a 1986 graduate of Chanel High School. He then attended Baldwin Wallace University where played baseball and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He met his wife, Kathy Blaser while attending college, and they were married on November 2, 1991 in Bryan, Ohio. Dave began his career working for his father-in-law, Dean Blaser at Potter Inc. where he started in Sales. He was appointed a Division Vice President of Potter Inc. in 2003 and made President of Potter Inc. in 2006. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was involved with the Faith Sharing group and also served on the School Council. He was an active member of the Bryan Soccer Association as well as coaching both baseball and softball. He was a member of the Bryan Area Foundation and the Bryan Rotary Club. Dave had a wide variety of interest, including spending time at the family cottage on Coldwater Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, water skiing and finding his quiet spot to relax. He also loved to mow his yard making sure it was completed just in the right way. Decorating his home for Christmas was always a favorite task and was certain to be an all-day task, with lights on the outside and the Christmas tree inside. He was a Cleveland Indians and a Cleveland Browns fan. His favorite thing of all was to spend quality time with his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife, Kathy of Bryan; three children, Adam, Emily and Hanna Gorzelanczyk, all at home; father, Chet Gorzelanczyk of Aurora, Ohio; one brother, Chet Gorzelanczyk of New Albany, Ohio; two sisters, Cheryl (Ted) Shoop of Sagamore Hills, Ohio and Tracey (Dave) Flask of Twinsburg, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; his grandmother, Flo Pomiecko of Twinsburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carole and grandparents, Chester Gorzelanczyk, Albert Pomiecko and John and Ann Grilj.

Visitation for David A. Gorzelanczyk will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, where Scripture Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Funeral Mass for David A. Gorzelanczyk will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 Portland Street, Bryan, with Father Jim Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery.
