David L. Gleason, 65, of Montpelier, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. He was born on June 11, 1951 in Morenci, Michigan to George H. and Doris (Beaumont) Gleason. Dave graduated from Montpelier High School. On July 5, 1996 he married Kathryn J. Grindall at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier and she survives.
Dave retired from the Village of Montpelier in September of 2016 after 33 years. He loved woodworking and flying remote controlled airplanes.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy of Montpelier; two step daughters, Jenny (Josh) Duncan of Mooresville, NC and Amy (Joey) Dohner of Montpelier; six grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Corbin, Lucas, Jullian and Addison; one sister, Kay Cox of Montpelier; one brother, Terry (Pat) Gleason of Angola, IN; nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Sabrina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Josiah Dohner.
A time to receive friends will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home Empire Street Chapel in Montpelier. A memorial service will immediately follow calling hours at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Blank to officiate. A private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Donations may be made to the Williams County Humane Society.
