DEFIANCE TO APPLY FOR WALKWAY GRANT

Defi­ance City Coun­cil approved an ordi­nance Tues­day night allow­ing appli­ca­tion for a grant that would pro­vide funds for an exten­sive pedes­trian walk­way.

The appli­ca­tion seeks alter­na­tive trans­porta­tion pro­gram funds through the Ohio Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion, and would pro­vide money for a pedes­trian and bicy­cle route in the city if funds are awarded.

Tthe Ohio Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion has invited the city to apply for an award of up to 80 per­cent of the esti­mated con­struc­tion cost.
