Dennis M. Johnston, age 95, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 9:55 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mr. Johnston was the mayor of Edgerton for 16 years. He worked as a milkman for Callender Dairy in Edgerton and Benner Dairy in Bryan, was a mechanic for Maxton Motors in Edgerton and worked for R. C. Miller Oil Company in Bryan. After retiring from full time work, he worked part time at the Wash-N-Fill in Edgerton and Knox Linen in Edgerton. Mr. Johnston was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ, the Edgerton American Legion and coached Little League baseball for many years.
Dennis M. Johnston was born on October 24, 1919, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Robert Linn and Daisy Marie (Brown) Johnston. He married Phyllis Sweet on December 7, 1939 and she preceded him in death in 1974. He then married Norma L. Entenman on June 7, 1975, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Chuck (Linda) Johnston, of West Unity; daughters, Sandra (Richard) Bible, of Fort Wayne and Kathy (Neal) Hug, of Edgerton; stepdaughters, Sandy Randles, of Edgerton, Debra (Bill) Nester, of Edon and Penny (Dennis) Smith, of Edgerton; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Phyllis.
Funeral services for Dennis M. Johnston will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Edgerton Church of Christ with Pastor Donny Goff officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 A.M. in the church prior to the service. Interment will follow Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton with grave side military rites by the Bryan VFW Post #2489. Funeral services have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, Edgerton.
