Donald J. Andrews, age 85, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away at 8:15 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance. Don retired from Mohawk as a machinist and had worked on the Wabash Railroad as an engine mechanic. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Don was a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489 and Montpelier American Legion Post 109. He was able to take the last Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2014.
Born, April 22, 1929 in Montpelier, Ohio, he was the son of Cleo and Donna (Mayfield) Andrews. He married Doris E. Harrington on June 19, 1951 and she preceded him in death.
Don is survived by his sons, Daniel (Pamela) Andrews, of Jacksonville, Florida and Robert (Paula) Andrews, of Montpelier; grandchildren, Erin Andrews of Okeechobee, Florida, Angel (Dan) Frattinger, of Chicago, Illinois, Katie Andrews, of Hartley, Iowa, Joshua Barr, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jennifer Barr, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Tabetha Barr, of Montpelier and great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Bryce Johnson, of Okeechobee, Florida and Mary and McKay Frattinger, of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris Andrews and four brothers.
Funeral services for Donald J. Andrews will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan where military rites will be accorded by the Bryan VFW Post 2489 at 4:00 P.M.
