Donald R. Trueman, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Following graduation in 1954 from Camden Frontier High School, Don enlisted in the United States Navy, serving our country from 1956 until 1960. Don then worked at the Aro Corporation as a machinist and lab technician for 44 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a quick wit and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bryan. Don was an avid University of Michigan football fan, enjoyed restoring and owning a 1954 Chevy, woodworking and loved to travel. He and his wife traveled to 47 states and wintered in Arizona for 16 years, where he belonged to a senior citizen softball league and handyman’s club.
Donald was born on October 2, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William J. and Wilibel (Whitmer) Trueman. He married Thelma E. Jagger on March 9, 1957 in Hillsdale County, Michigan and she survives.
Don is also survived by his children, Steven (Jennifer) Trueman of Elyria, Ohio, Rhonda (Russ) Allen of Orient, Ohio and Edward Trueman of Defiance, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Hailey (Desean) Davis, Eric Allen and Nathan Allen and his brother, Robert (Karen) Trueman of Inman, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Kenneth Trueman, his parents and infant brother, William Trueman.
Visitation for Donald R. Trueman will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the First Baptist Church, 925 East Fountain Grove Drive, Bryan, OH 43506. His memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. following visitation, with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating followed by military rite presented by the combine Bryan American Legion/VFW Honor Guard. Don will be laid to rest at West Woodbridge Cemetery, Camden Michigan in a private committal service.
