Doris F. Taylor, 99

Doris F. Taylor, 99 years, of Hamilton, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Doris was born November 28, 1916 at her family’s farm home near Fremont, Indiana, the daughter of the late James Dallas and Ona (Brundige) Huss. She was a 1934 graduate of Scott Center High School. She married Willis H. Taylor on September 6, 1935 in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death in February 1981. Doris was active in Rebekah Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, the Hamilton United Methodist Church, the Home Extension Homemakers and Bridgette’s Bridge Club. She helped with the Brownies and Girl Scouts and was also a leader in 4-H. Doris traveled in all the western and southern states, Mackinac Island and the British Isles. She loved to oil paint and play the piano.

Surviving are her two children, Marilyn (Terry) Gratz of Fort Wayne, Indiana and John (Alice) Taylor of Clayton, Georgia; five grandchildren, Mark Taylor, David (Stacey) Taylor, Suzanna (Steven) Boggs, Curtis (McKenzie) Gratz and Michelle (Michael) Kucharski; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Max and Warren Huss and one sister, Olive Jean Purdy.

Visitation for Doris F. Taylor will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 3985 East Church Street, Hamilton. Funeral services for Doris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in the Hamilton United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Dimick officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Cemetery. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
