Doris Jean Ruhlin, age 93, of Lavonia, Georgia and formerly of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022 at AnMed, Anderson Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina. She lived a full life until she passed from a sudden and unexpected heart attack. She was born on September 28, 1929 to Dwight and Letta (Myers) Bruner. She married Robert S. Ruhlin on December 19, 1948.
Doris was a legal secretary for over 50 years with Hallett, Hallett and Nagel. She enjoyed gardening and her family. In recent years, she especially treasured her relationships with her great-granddaughters. She was known for her quick wit and loving, positive personality. Doris enjoyed singing in the choir her entire adult life, both with her church family and recently with the Wauseon Senior Center choir. Doris enjoyed travel and she and her husband and kids enjoyed camping all over the U.S. They also enjoyed a summer lake home for years with family and friends. She continued her love of travel with Bob and Beth in the later years of her life, moving to Georgia with them this past summer.
Doris and Bob celebrated 67 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Robert (Jr.) (Beth) and Rita (Craig) Werner, five grandchildren, Michelle Ruhlin, Matthew Ruhlin, Mike Ruhlin, Nicole Spadafore and Jessica (Nick) Beltz and three great-granddaughters, Avery Jean Malloy, Sophia Mary Beltz and Abigail Rose Beltz.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Ruhlin Sr. who passed away six years ago on October 21, 2016, her parents, Dwight and Letta Bruner, sister, Hazel (Sandy) Kieffer, brothers, Howard (Barbara) Bruner, Ralph (Betty) Bruner, and Harry (Jacque) Bruner, and unborn great-grandchildren Chloe Beltz and Remmy Beltz. She is survived by one brother, Clarence (Katherine) Bruner as well as her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Wauseon where visitation will be at 10:00 am.Saturday, October 29th and a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Doerr officiating. Internment will be after the service at Wauseon Union Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Church.
She also enjoyed attending Lavonia First Baptist Church with her son and daughter-in-law and became a member of the choir in 2021 until her death. A memorial service will be planned for a later date in Georgia as she had many friends there due to her extended visits in Georgia.
