Dorothy V. Jackman, 104 years, of Bryan passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at Fountain Park Assisted Living, Memory Care and Villas, Bryan. Dorothy was born February 12, 1912 in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of the late John O. and Sarah (Green) Hanna. She married Elza L. “Jack” Jackman on January 26, 1935 in Defiance, Ohio and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1985. Dorothy worked as a cook for Fairview Schools for eight years, retiring in 1972. She previously worked as an assembler at Ohio Art for 16 years and a cook for Cameron Hospital, Bryan. Dorothy was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Williams Center. She also was a member of the Get Together Club. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and cooking in her free time. She was a Detroit Tigers fan and loved to watch baseball games.
Surviving are her three children, LaVada Koch of Bryan, Ohio, Judy (Cyril) Pfeiffer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Terry L. (Cynthia) Jackman of Summerville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchild. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Sam Koch; four brothers, Harvey, Wilson, Kenneth, and Walter Hanna; two sisters, Mae Hanna and Merlie McCaslin.
Visitation for Dorothy V. Jackman will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Becky Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Center Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio.
