Edna M. McKarns, 96 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident. Edna was born January 26, 1917 in Williams County, Ohio to Adam J. and Rose (Goeltzenleuchter) Flightner. She married Willis C. McKarns on October 16, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1995. Edna was a Deputy Clerk for the Williams County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of Pulaski United Methodist Church. Edna found great pleasure in knitting, making various crafts and working word search puzzles. She also had a great love for dogs.
Surviving is her stepdaughter, Mary Kay (Dwight) Moorhead of South Park, Pennsylvania; her sister-in-law, Jestine “Johnnie” Flightner of Bryan and one niece, Rose Marie Boothman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willis, two brothers, Ronald and Robert Flightner and one sister-in-law, Thelma Flightner.
Funeral services for Edna M. McKarns will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan with Pastor Becky Ploughe officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
