Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Bayliss, 74

Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Bayliss, 74 years of Sherwood, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, in her residence, with her family at her side. Elizabeth was born May 17, 1950, in Blackberry City, West Virginia, the daughter of the late William and Ramona (Carroll) Elliott. She was a 1968 graduate of Fairview High School. She married Bradley D. Bayliss on December 28, 1968, in Defiance, Ohio, and he survives. Libby began her working life at her parent’s store, Elliott’s Market. She then began working as a cosmetologist. Libby received her realtor’s license and sold real estate for Coldwell Banker.  She assisted her husband Brad as the bookkeeper for Boutwell and Bayliss Towing. Libby was a rural mail carrier.  She also worked at Spangler Candy Company as a candy spinner for 20 years, retiring in 2010. In retirement she worked as a stocker at Meijer in Defiance. She was a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie and was a Union Steward for the UAW at Spangler Candy. Libby loved to shop, crochet, where she created many afghans and other keepsakes. She also loved to sunbathe, fish and hunt mushrooms. She treasured the time she could spend with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Bradley of Sherwood; three children, Yvette (Damian) Flores of Castle Rock, Colorado, Farrah (John) Elwood of Hicksville, and Jessica (Eric) Bassett of Hicksville; seven grandchildren, Miranda, Ayala, Xander, McKenzie, Kaden, Kailin and Beckham; one sister, Deb (Mike) Myers of Montpelier as well as her dog, Gizmo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ed Elliott: aunts and uncles, Flossie and John Chafin, Leonard Elliott and Oakey Amonette and Jim Carroll.

Visitation for Elizabeth will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral services for Libby will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the funeral home. Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, Ohio.
